WOMEN TO PLAY JUNIOR ELITE HOCKEY

This winter hockey season of 2008 will be remembered for many things. There has been a major restructuring of the Club culture to ensure the sport survives with the lack of rink facilities in Melbourne. One major change has been through the ranks of the Junior clubs. This change has enabled the Women hockey players of Victoria, who after completing a selection process along with their male counterparts, can compete at the highest level of junior hockey.

You will be chosen on your ability and not restricted to an age limit. Women this season can play open age in the junior elite (old jun A)

This is the best male level of Junior Hockey and you will be drafted,as will all male players, into a team based on ability and skill level. This Junior Elite is full contact which means there is body checking so it is something you should be aware of.

Each team will have its own coach and support staff and there will be regular and structured trainings of the highest caliber at times that do not contain the letters "am". Monday and tuesday have been set aside for these trainings and when tryouts and team selection are over these times will be made available depending which team you have been selected in.

There are other avenues for Women to play if they miss out on selection for the Jun Elite.

Depending on age you could be able to play Bantam (old Jun B) and feel comfortable there. This again is subject to tryouts and selection so please ALL potential players check out the home page of the IHV website for information on dates for the tryouts. They are VERY soon.

The tryouts for all women and boys interested in Junior Elite is this Thursday the 13th of march at 7.45pm on the ice and for two hours. The second tryout is Sat 15th March at 5.30pm on the ice for two hours. You don't have to attend both sessions BUT if you cannot attend either you must contact the names on the home page of the IHV website.

Well this season with all its changes gives Women the best opportunity to play top level hockey, improve your skills and have structured well organised trainings with good coaches.

Remember any information you need don't wait for it to appear here on this page CONTACT THE NAMES ON THE HOME PAGE AND YOU WILL FIND OUT EVERYTHING YOU NEED.

Good luck this season Girls.
