A member of the Australian Ice Hockey League, Melbourne Ice is affiliated wit the Australian Ice Hockey Federation and sanctioned by Ice Hockey Victoria.
Melbourne Ice is a not-for-profit incorporated association, managed by a volunteer management committee. The management group comprises individuals with high level experience in coaching, sports management, business, government and the community sector.
2007 Season in Progress
Season 2006 proved to be one of great success for the Ice as they took the minor premiership of the AIHL before being eliminated from their first playoff campaign. This season, a well polished Melbourne Ice unit has once again graced the AIHL this season to go one step further in their quest for the AIHL crown.
The Melbourne Ice one again has a brilliant blend of local and imported talent. Australian goaltender Stu Denman is manning the fort between the pipes for the Ice whilst being backed up by Roland Weber. Skaters include a blend of local and international talent. Imports have come from distant lands to offer their services to the Ice and it is more than appreciated. As for the locals, they are bringing a brand of hockey which is proving that ice hockey is not as foreign to this arid land as many may think. With skill, speed and grit both the Australian and international players are making the Ice a force to be reckoned with in the AIHL.
Brilliant skilled and gritty hockey has set the Ice apart so far this season as they sit atop the AIHL, however, with a many games still remaining the real test for the Ice will be whether they can maintain the high intensity hockey they have employed the first half of the season.
Below is a list of the remaining match-ups. Keep an eye out for updates and be sure to get to the Olympic Ice Arena to catch all the action.

The Volunteers and Sponsors
Melbourne Ice is driven by the many volunteers who keep the club running. Without such a team the Melbourne Ice would not exist as each volunteer is equally important in the running of such an organisation. No matter where you are from or what your qualifications are there is always a place for anyone willing to help the Melbourne Ice.
Like any non-profit organisation the Melbourne Ice depends heavily upon sponsorship in order to move forward in their endeavours. Whether you could sponsor the entire team or just an individual player, there is various sponsorship options you could undertake.
If you are interested in helping the Ice, being a part of a great bunch of volunteers or sponsoring a player or the team, be sure to drop us an email at info@melbourneice.com for further information.
