JUNIORS

JUNIOR PARENTS:

ZERO TOLERANCE

Regrettably this past 2011 season has seen a marked increase in the incidences of the "Ugly Parent" behaviour at Junior games. As we move toward the next season, IHV advise that we will be implementing a Zero Tolerance stance in regard to spectator behaviour at IHV Junior games.

At the Junior level, the sport of ice hockey is utmost for and about the kids. It is not about the views, ambitions, opinions, personalities or emotions of the parents. IHV will not tolerate people creating an environment where the players, officials and other spectators cannot enjoy participating in or watching our sport.

Abuse of officials, be they on or off ice, team management, players or fellow spectators is unacceptable, as is any of the following:

Use of obscene or vulgar language in a boisterous manner to anyone, at any time.

  • Taunting of players, coaches, officials or other spectators by means of verbal baiting, ridiculing, threat of physical violence or physical violence.
  • Throwing of any object in the spectators viewing area, players’ bench, penalty box or on the ice surface, directed in any manner as to create a safety hazard or risk of injury.

We would also discourage the cheering or applauding of penalties being awarded against the opposing team or cheering your own team for illegal contact. Such cheering should be saved for encouragement of good play and effort. We are talking about children's sport - this is not the NHL and we are not playing for sheep stations!

Any spectator behaving in a manner which breaches the IHV Code of Conduct will be immediately asked to leave the rink. The game will be stopped until such time as the offending party is removed. Lost game time will not be replaced.

In addition to the immediate removal from the venue, violators will be automatically banned from attending any IHV games or activities for the remainder of the season. IHV also reserves the right to take any additional action that it may deem appropriate.
